Hello and Welcome!

Thanks for visiting johndeancommissioner.com

If this is your first visit, some preliminary information is below. For other information, see the blog, linked at left, and newsletters, linked at bottom. Also, please visit  http://www.islandcounty.net/ for Island County department and document info.

I am Island County Commissioner John Dean, serving North Whidbey, Camano Island (District 3), and, of course, the rest of Island County.

I have been a Camano Island resident and a professional, independent journalist, editor, and volunteer for 25 years before voters, in the 2006 general election, gave me the honor to serve as an Island County Commissioner for four years.

Thank you!

The Board of Island County Commissioners meets the first three Mondays of every month at 10 a.m. to conduct county business. We meet on fourth Mondays at 11 a.m. for roundtable discussion with elected county officials and appointed department heads, followed by regular sessions to conduct county business at 2 p.m. (excluding holidays). These public meetings are held in the Commissioners Hearing Room, located downstairs in the Courthouse Annex Building, Room #B102, at 1 NE 6th Street in Coupeville.

Click here for courthouse campus map.

Monday meetings are televised via a videoconferencing link to Island County's Camano Annex offices, 121 N. East Camano Drive, Camano Island, located south of Camano Plaza and Camaloch Golf Course.

A public comment period is scheduled at 10 a.m. on the first three Mondays of each month.

The Board also meets on the first and third Wednesdays beginning at 9 a.m. for staff sessions with department heads and the third Monday of each month at 1:15 p.m. as members of the Island County Board of Health. All of these are, of course, open to the public.
